about our founder

I was born and raised in a small town in Alaska. Growing up, I spent a lot of time outdoors fishing, hiking and camping. By the time I was in college, I wanted to see more of the world and decided to participate in a student exchange program in Hawaii during my sophomore year as a business undergraduate.

Hawaii is a beautiful place where the land is respected and the people take care of each other. I then moved to New York without any family or friends, and learned very quickly that if you don't have any connections, living alone in a new place can be challenging.

I finished my undergraduate degree at Stony Brook University with a BS in Business Management & Finance. During this time, I took a course on climate change and culture and learned the science behind the climate crisis. Before the course, I was like many people: aware that there are environmental problems, but I didn't know the true consequences of the actions we have taken to support our consumerist lifestyle.

I learned that everything we do has an impact and that everything is connected. Being ignorant of the climate crisis was no longer an option, and it was deeply unsettling to me. Also, living in New York with no connections, barely any money, and limited time, Necessi is genuinely something that I needed, and I hope it will help others.

My hope for Necessi is to show people there are alternatives to the damage we are causing to the environment through the consumption habits that have been pushed on us by big corporations trying to increase profit. I hope you see the changes Necessi can affect, and I hope you find what you need.
